Senneterre West sits in the eastern Val d'Or district of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt of Quebec, one of Canada's most prolific historical gold camps. The property covers approximately 20 km² across 40 mineral claims, with excellent road and rail access through the Senneterre-Val d'Or corridor.
Bedrock at Senneterre West is dominated by mafic volcanic rocks of the Val d'Or volcanic complex, with a composite diorite-granodiorite stock intruding the assemblage across the eastern claim block. Regional-scale faults converge across the western portion of the property. These regional structures are the same family of deformation features known to localize gold mineralization across the broader Val d'Or camp, including on Abcourt Mines' adjacent Pershing-Manitou property.
The intent of work at Senneterre West is to identify, refine, and rank target zones along the convergent regional structures and at the contact between the mafic volcanics and the diorite-granodiorite intrusion. Molten has not published historical drilling, sampling, or compilation work on the specific claim package.
Senneterre West is an early-stage Archean orogenic gold play. The targeting model focuses on vein-hosted and shear-zone-hosted gold mineralization in steeply-dipping splays of the regional fault system, with the diorite-granodiorite intrusion in the eastern claims providing the rheological contrast that often localizes high-grade quartz veining elsewhere in the camp.
Work to date is at the target-generation stage; further compilation, sampling, and geophysical work will be required before any drill program can be designed and planned.
